Mr. Tariq Farid, renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist from USA visited COMSATS
Institute of Information Technology (CIIT). He was accompanied by Ms. Somia Farid,
young entrepreneur, Mr. Tajammal Hussain, Advisor (Programmes), COMSATS Headquarters,
Islamabad.
The delegations was received and welcomed by Prof. Dr. Saleem Farooq Shaukat, Director
CIIT Sahiwal and different Head of Departments. On behalf of the management of CIIT,
The Director CIIT Sahiwal campus extended his gratitude to the delegation for their
visit at Sahiwal campus. Mr. Tariq Farid expressed his thankfulness to the Director
and his team for their warm welcome.
The objective of above said visit was to interact with Head of Departments and faculty
members to discuss/ explore areas of mutual interest in different fields.
During meeting in Conference Room, Prof. Dr. Saleem Farooq Shaukat briefed the delegation
about CIIT, its history, programs, achievements and ranking in general and CIIT
Sahiwal in particular. All Head of Departments (HoD) were also present in the meeting/
briefing session. All HoDs introduced themselves and their portfolios. They briefed
about their departments, ongoing projects and future programs under their departments.
The session remained very interactive having detailed discussion about areas of
mutual interest.
After having detailed meeting with HoDs, the delegations interacted with all faculty
members in CS-4. He shared his success story with all of them. He motivated the
faculty members to strict on targets, hard work and sincerity. He advised them to
motivate their students to succeed in their lives.
The honorable guest alongwith other members visited Student Service Center (SSC),
Montgomery Museum, Engineering Workshops, different departments well. He was surprised
to see the antiquities placed in museum. He appreciated the efforts of management
for establishing museum in an educational institution where, students can learn
about their culture and heritage.
During visit to Student Service Center, he expressed his joyfulness that state of
the art center is working in Sahiwal. He was briefed that more than 50% students
of this campus are availing different scholarships/ assistance ship. However, there
are several students where are unable to further their studies due to financial
hardship.
He appreciated the efforts of management of CIIT for providing education to deserving
students on scholarship. He committed to provide financial support of Rs.5.000 Million
to needy students of CIIT Sahiwal.
The delegation was awarded souvenir by Prof. Dr. Saleem Farooq Shaukat, Director
CIIT Sahiwal.
The visit was concluded with group photo of delegation with Director and all Head
of Departments.
